How to organise your church's songs
A simple way to keep your repertoire in order: no duplicate versions, no "I have that song in another key", and no Sunday list depending on anyone's memory.
The typical problem
Over time a church's repertoire gets messy on its own: a folder on the temple computer, songs on each musician's phone, versions with different chords, keys nobody remembers, and a list put together on Sunday morning.
The result: wasted rehearsal time and mistakes in the projection.
Five steps to get it in order
1. One single library. Pick one place where the songs live and make it the source of truth. If there are two lists, there are two truths.
2. One entry per song, with these fields. Title, author, key and, if you use it, BPM. That alone removes half the confusion at rehearsal.
3. Lyrics with chords above the right syllable. Chords aligned with the lyrics, not in a separate paragraph. If the chord isn't where it's played, every musician interprets it their own way.
4. One reference key, transposition for each person. Keep the original key and let each musician move it up or down. The same song then works for the high voice and for the one who needs it lower.
5. The service list, before the service. Song order, who leads and who plays. Shared and settled before Sunday, not improvised that morning.
How Eslyrio does it
Eslyrio is built exactly for this:
- One shared library for the whole team, always up to date.
- Songs with lyrics and chords, with key and BPM.
- One-tap transposition (♯/♭) and Anglo or Latin notation (C·G·D or Do·Sol·Re), so each musician reads the way they're comfortable.
- Lists per service, with the order and the assigned team.
- Musician view: large lyrics, chords hidden if you want, and it works offline.
And to coordinate the people, see the app for worship teams and ministries.
Start with the template
If your songs are already in a document, you don't need to type them again: download the template, paste your lyrics with chords and upload it.
And if you use Holyrics for projection, see how syncing works.
